Hebron Academy's Community Life Team, along with residential faculty, plan fun activities for students throughout the year. There are all kinds of special events, sports tournaments, and activities in the dorm, as well as a full slate of choices every weekend. These activities are in addition to the student plays and concerts, student organization activities, and interscholastic competitions. There's always something to do!
Special activities include:
- Art Festival Week with one act plays, concerts, art shows, community art projects
- Halloween celebration with haunted house, pumpkin carving, party
- Winter Carnival with fun dress up days, three-on-three basketball tournament, broomball tournament, snow competitions, Casino Night
- Concerts on campus (The Grumps, Jason Lavasseur)
- Cultural events off campus (Portland Symphony, Portland Stage Company, Bates College lectures and concerts)
- Trips to fairs
- Hebron night at the Maineacs (local junior hockey team)
- Professional hypnotist
- Spa night (girls' dorm)
- Poker/video game competition (boys' dorm)
- Slip-n-slide in the Bowl
- Cookouts
- Dances
- Junior and senior Prom
Regular weekend activities include:
- Shopping (L.L. Bean, Maine Mall, Auburn Mall, Portland’s Old Port, North Conway outlets).
- Outing Club trips (hiking, canoeing, skiing, climbing, camping)
- Sporting events (Portland Sea Dogs, Portland Pirates, Boston Red Sox, local collegiate events)
- Skiing
- Movies (theaters in nearby Auburn and Oxford)
- Community skating
- Various outings (bowling, mini golf, etc.)
- Big screen movie nights on campus
- Intramural competitions (wiffle ball, dodge ball, Frisbee golf)
Students are welcomed and encouraged to suggest fun activities to the Community Life Team. Each year's activities are a little different, keeping things fresh and interesting!
