Mr. Joe Hemmings joined the Hebron Academy Office of Admission in 2000 from Massachusetts, where he managed the marketing and advising function for the Graduate Program in Special Education at Simmons College in Boston. Prior to Simmons, he was the Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admission at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Mr. Hemmings earned his BA in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston.
Mr. Hemmings lives on campus with wife Chris, Hebron's Midddle School Assistant Director and Spanish teacher, and daughters Emily '17 and Riley '16. What he enjoys most about Hebron is the Academy's strong sense of community. "This is a place where students feel comfortable because people are respectful and supportive of one another,” he explains. Mr. Hemmings enjoys hiking, surfing, hockey, golf, and spending time with his family on Cape Cod in the summers.

Ms. Middleton, known as “Ms. Midd” by her students, came to Hebron in 2002. In addition to working in the Office of Admission, Ms. Middleton directs the school's Drama Program and advises Hebron's Gay-Straight Alliance (GSTA) group called The BRIDGE. Before joining Hebron, Ms. Middleton was a French teacher, dorm parent, and drama director at the Indian Mountain School in Lakeville, CT.
Ms. Midd lives on campus in The Parsonage with her husband Stephen, Hebron’s History Department Chair, their two children Max '12, and Charlotte '14 and exotic cats. Ms. Middleton's favorite pastimes include family, yoga, music/theater/art, reading, and summers in Maine or Block Island, RI.
What she loves most about Hebron Academy is the way students and faculty support one another as they work towards achieving common and individual goals.
Associate Director of Admission; Varsity Boys' Soccer Head Coach
Columbia University - B.A., M.A., M.Ed
A native of Franklin, MA, Mr. Swanbeck is Hebron's Associate Director of Admission and head coach of the boys' varsity soccer team. He graduated from Columbia University in 1981, where he was a four year letterman for the Lions, a captain and MVP his junior and senior seasons, and a three time All-Ivy League player. He lead his team to three Ivy League titles and an appearance in the NCAA Final Four. He holds two Master's degrees from Columbia.
Mr. Swanbeck's coaching career began at Dartmouth and then at his alma mater Columbia, where he was an assistant coach. He went on to become head coach of Berry College in Mount Berry, GA, compiling an impressive overall record of 112-69-5 (.616). At Berry, Swanbeck guided the Vikings to the conference's postseason tournament in each of his nine seasons at the helm and left as the winningest coach in the school's history. Before coming to Hebron in 2010, Mr. Swanbeck was the head coach at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point for seven years.
Since joining Hebron, Mr. Swanbeck has led the Lumberjacks to three consecutive MAISAD championship titles in four years and three New England tournament appearances. In 2012 the 'Jacks upset Berwick Academy (S. Berwick, ME) in the Class C quarterfinals to become NEPSAC Class C semifinalists. They fell to Beaver Country Day School (Chestnut Hill, MA) in the semis. Hebron avenged the loss in 2013 when the 'Jacks (ranked #8) upset the #1 seed BCDS club to advance to the NEPSAC semis once more.
Mr. Swanbeck lives in Glover House with his wife Lynne and sons Tyler '18, Trevor, and Tobias.

Ms. Jenny Ridley (Agnew) ’99 returns to Hebron Academy to join the Admissions Office team as an Assistant Director of Admission. From 2003-2006 Ms. Ridley taught Science in both the Hebron Middle School and Upper School in addition to being a resident dorm faculty in Sturtevant home and coach for field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse.
Since 2006, Ms. Ridley earned an M.S. in Physical Education and Health from Bridgewater State College and went on to work as a Health Coach at Occupational Medical Consulting, LLC where in 2010 she transitioned into the role of Sales & Marketing Director, leading efforts to build worksite wellness programs in corporations and hospitals throughout the U.S. and Internationally.
Ms. Ridley lives on the Hebron campus with her husband Mr. Corey Ridley, Hebron’s Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer, and their young twin boys Keegan and Mason. She received her Bachelors of Science from the University of Vermont in Nutrition and Food Sciences with a concentration in Exercise Science and was a four-year member of UVM’s Women’s Ice Hockey team.
Of her new role at the Academy Ms. Ridley notes, “It’s exciting to re-join the Hebron faculty and staff and to be working in the Admissions Office meeting the new and prospective Hebron families and welcoming them to the Hebron community.” She continues, “I’m particularly looking forward to getting more involved in working with Alumni to be liaisons between the school and prospective families as well as supporting efforts to encourage more and more females to consider the boarding school opportunities that Hebron offers – athletically, academically and artistically.”
Ms. Ridley is also a graduate of both the Hebron Middle School and Upper School – Class of 1999 - and has many wonderful Hebron memories including the day that Ms. Guenther drove to her house over the summer with a field hockey stick to encourage her interest in the sport, as well as the first day of 6th grade wandering the Hebron woods and campus with Ms. Reedy performing tree identifications for science class. Throughout her time at Hebron, Ms. Ridley was a member of the Field Hockey team, Girls’ Lacrosse team and Hebron’s inaugural Girls’ Ice Hockey team.
Admissions Operations Manager
University of Maine - B.S.
Ms. Fitts joined the Office of Admission in 2011. She comes to Hebron from Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, ME where she worked for five years in the Administration Office. Prior to Stephens, Ms. Fitts was a retail manager at American Eagle Outfitters and the GAP. Ms. Fitts earned her BS in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Maine in Orono. She enjoys running, volunteering, camping, baking, and spending time with her family. She lives with her husband Ernie and two children Connor and Anna and chocolate lab Sadie.
