CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2010
Head of School John King lead commencement ceremonies for the Hebron Class of 2010 Saturday, focusing on the words 'Humanity and Achievement' in reference to newly-adopted catchwords associated with the school. Citing an informal poll of seniors asked to identify with one label or the other, he reported a decided preference for 'Achievement,' but went to speak of the school's inherent humanity as seen in its recent reponse to the earthquake in Haiti as well as its long-standing commitment to the Little Field Orphanage in Malawi, among others humanitarian programs and causes.

Humanity was also the theme of Chairman of the Board of Trustees Reeve Bright in remarks preparatory to the awarding of diplomas to the school's 71 graduating seniors. Recalling a final exam he took in law school, he told of the shock many of his fellow students expressed at a question asking for the first name of a familiar housekeeper at the school. Despite a series of increasingly heated objections, the professor would not relent. "Her message was that there are no insignificant people in our lives," explained Bright, "and it is a lesson I've never forgotten."
