David Ruiz Joins Hebron Academy as New Dean of Student Life

Hebron Academy is pleased to welcome Mr. David Ruiz as our new Dean of Student Life!

He will also be the Chair of Hebron's Equity and Inclusivity Task Force composed of faculty, staff, and students. Mr. Ruiz has vast experience in multicultural education, having devoted much of his career to engaging students and faculty around topics of racism, discrimination, and bias, and will bring our community a fresh perspective to help lead us towards positive initiatives, outcomes, and collective action.

Prior to joining Hebron Academy, Mr. Ruiz was at The MacDuffie School where he served as Assistant Head of School, Head of Upper School, and as Academic Dean. Before MacDuffie, he was Academic Dean at Girard College in Philadelphia. His expansive career includes roles as Dorm Head, Dean of Students, Upper School Principal, and Director of Cross-Cultural Advising. In all of his roles, David’s overarching goal has always been “to ensure that all students are provided with a meaningful, quality education that is unbiased and anti-racist”.

Mr. Ruiz has a B.A. in Non-Western History and Spanish Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.Ed. from UMass, Amherst. Mr. Ruiz enjoys reading, watching classic movies, and spending time with his wife, Nellie, and their three children. He is also a cat lover and an avid Mets fan.
