Students learning about college with college counselor

Hebron Academy is pleased to announce that Emily Carton has been appointed to the Director of the Upper School. The Director of the Upper School is responsible for oversight of our academic programs and our student life. We are excited to welcome Ms. Carton’s leadership as we continue the process of advancing our strategic priorities and initiatives.

Ms. Carton brings her broad experience in independent schools as a teacher, administrator, and consultant to the Hebron community. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to progressive education and has distinguished herself as an innovative systems-builder and as an advocate for student empowerment and leadership. She spent the last year serving as Hebron’s Director of College Counseling, where she quickly identified room for growth and spearheaded the rollout of significant new programming to support students’ desired college outcomes.

Before Hebron, Ms. Carton served as the Dean of Academics at Olney Friends School in Ohio, where she oversaw the design and implementation of a school-wide mastery-based curriculum, while teaching various courses in history, English, and ethics. She has also served as a consultant to several independent schools in New York City, providing guidance on topics ranging from teacher evaluation and professional growth to digital marketing strategies.

Ms. Carton received a B.A. in Religion from Haverford College, an M.A. in Independent School Leadership from the Klingenstein Center at Teachers College, Columbia University, and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

She resides on campus with her husband Eric Lundblade (History Faculty) and their dog, Ozzy.
