Juan Pablo Garcia de Luca Medina ‘22 - Tennis - Tlaltenango, Mexico

In the month of April, Hebron’s boys’ tennis team achieved a lot of success with a 3-1 record with wins over Hyde, Berwick and Fryeburg Academy. In their opening match of the season, they suffered their lone defeat, but Juan Pablo Garcia ‘22 showed that he was going to be a tough matchup for opponents in Maine this season. Playing #2 singles for the Lumberjacks, Garcia fell behind early in the opening set, but came back to capture it 7-4 in a tiebreak. In the second, he struggled to find his consistency, but his perseverance in the third set paid off as he won the 10-point tiebreak 10-7.

In his next two matches, Garcia cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph against Gould and then once again needed to come from behind to win a three-set match versus Berwick. After falling in the opening set 6-4, Garcia won the second set 6-3. In the third, he fell behind quickly, but he rallied to win the third set in a tiebreak 7-5 to seal the win for the Lumberjacks on the day.
