Girls Varsity Soccer:

Girls' Varsity Soccer had a great matchup on the turf at Kents Hill School. Our players showed great tenacity as they attacked every ball and created wonderful scoring opportunities for Hebron. Defense, anchored by Abby McDonald, worked well together to keep Kents Hill out of the box and limit their offensive drives. Going into the second half, it was tied 0-0 and Hebron continued to play hard. Beatrice Money made numerous saves, including one off of a penalty kick, to keep the score even. Despite excellent play from the Hebron side, Kents Hill scored a late goal to win the game 1-0.

Boys Varsity Soccer:

Boys Varsity Soccer established itself in the first five minutes against our rival Kents Hill on Wednesday afternoon. The Lumberjacks scored a goal at the two minute mark (an Arvin Ohrn '22 header off a Colby MacCheyne '22 cross) and followed up with another goal just two minutes later (a Frew Rowen '22 finish off a long clearance by goalie Berni Jaidar '22). The game evened out after the initial scoring outburst, with both teams scoring goals over the next 45 minutes (Hebron's third goal was a Luke Festa '22 finish off a through ball by Orhn). Senior captain Javi Acha Urien '22 put the game away in the 55th minute when he fit a 25-yard free kick over the Kents Hill wall and under the crossbar. It was a strong effort from Hebron, which had its best performances of the season from Jaidar and midfielder Juan Garcia Cruce '24. With the 4-1 win, Boys Varsity Soccer is firmly atop the MAISAD Conference standings. Let's go Jacks!

Boys JV Soccer:

Even though it wasn't our closest game on the scoreboard, this was probably the hardest I've seen our JV boys work to win a game this season. Our 2-0 victory against a very well-prepared Kent's Hill team demonstrated, more than any other game to this point, our grit and determination to remain undefeated. The game saw goals from both Spyrindon Hamzeh, who put in a ball bouncing around inside the 18-yard box, and Matthew Fletcher, whose well-placed second-half goal gave us the security we wanted and rewarded the run of play. We look forward to seeing Kent's Hill again later this season.

Field Hockey:

"On October 6th, the field hockey team had their first win of the season in a decisive home game against Gould Academy. The final score of the game was 5-1 with three goals by Linn Haefele, as well as single goals by Sofia Gualtieri and Brooke Larsen. Both offense and defense were able to put together passing combinations up and down the field and work together to stop an aggressive Gould forward line. This win puts the team on an uptick going into their game against New Hampton in New Hampshire next Wednesday."

Mountain Biking:

Wednesday October 6 was our first Enduro-Style competition, hosted by Gould Academy at Mt. Abram bike park. Enduro racing is different from the cross-country racing we usually do because only the downhills are timed (you can take your time on the way uphill). This was an awesome event and a great opportunity to ride on some serious downhill trails. Thanks so much to Gould and Mt. Abrams for putting this on! We had our whole team join us for the first time, with season debut races for Sam Ickowicz Chernitzky, Ivan Hidalgo, Masayuki Takabayashi, and Ezra Tsapis. In the Enduro category, Masa and Andres Irurita finished just outside the top ten, Frankie Majkowski broke into the top ten with a 9th place finish, Lili-Marie Schmidt finished in 6th, Sam Levitt finished 4th, and Andres Quinzanos finished in 2nd place.
