Upper School Update 10/17-Oct 21

Upper School Update 10/17-Oct 21

This week in the Upper School, we are all busy as we reach the mid-point of semester 1. Classes are preparing for cumulative tests, finishing up projects, and practicing presentation skills. Ask your student about classwork, homework, and time management, which will all be especially important this week and next. In addition to a lot happening in classrooms, seniors had their last college counseling group session on Monday (juniors, you’re up on December 12!), boarders had the opportunity to connect with US Cellular about their phones on Wednesday, and all the 9-12th graders are looking forward to the Fall Ball on Saturday. Golf, Field Hockey, and Girls’ JV Soccer play on Friday; Field Hockey, Boys’ JV Soccer, Boys’ Varsity Soccer, Girls’ Varsity Soccer, and Cross Country all compete on Saturday. Sunday is an October-appropriate trip to Salem, Massachusetts. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Parents, look in this issue of HebronConnected for a message from School Counselor Amanda Miller on Health and Wellness Parent Resources. The goal of this new section is to inform parents of current issues in student health and to partner with you in support of health and wellness education for our students. This week’s information focuses on body image, sports nutrition tips, and risks associated with performance enhancing supplements. Mrs. Miller worked with Athletic Director Caddy Brooks to present this timely topic.

Boarding parents, please ensure that you check with your student about completing the Thanksgiving Break Form. We are aiming to have all boarding students complete this form by next Friday, October 28, 2022. See the section below for more information about student travel from Dean of Residential Life Zach Hensley – if you have questions, chances are, they will be answered there!
