What "Can" You do for Your Community?

What "Can" You do for Your Community?

It's easy to feel like part of a connected community when we are together on campus.

Community service opportunities, on and off-campus, abound. During the coronavirus pandemic, students have been encouraged to continue their community service efforts at home, and the results have been inspiring! Students have sewn and 3-D printed masks for frontline healthcare workers, written thank you notes to frontline workers, made meals for neighbors in need, and so much more.

One amazing example of student selflessness is Shayne Alexander '20. Shayne has been spending his Saturdays collecting glass bottles and cans and donating the redeemed funds to local food banks. The community response has been overwhelming.

Shayne shared that "we were not ready for that [many] cans. We donated almost C$18,000.00 to 4 different food banks. So it was great!"

We are so proud of our students and the difference they are making in the lives of so many people. Keep up the great work Lumberjacks!
