Hebron Academy is seeking a dynamic, flexible, and forward-thinking faculty member to join our Academic Guidance Center for the 2021-2022 school year. Our faculty participate fully in the life of the school -- as teacher, coach, dorm parent, mentor, and advisor.

The mission of the Hebron Academy Academic Guidance Center is to empower students of all abilities to become academically independent and accountable. The Academic Guidance Center is principled on developing academic strategies, greater academic confidence, and self-awareness.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Coaching, advocating, and teaching strategies to students with diverse learning needs who are enrolled in the Academic Guidance Center (AGC) for 1:1 or small group learning support

  • Collaborating school-wide around classroom instruction that affords access to all learners

  • Engaging community-wide to identify and support struggling students

  • Teaching students learning strategies and executive skills, including: study skills/strategies, test-taking skills/strategies, time and materials management skills, and academic skills (reading, writing, math) skills 1:1, in classes, or in small groups

  • Communicating regularly with parents/caregivers

  • Engaging in reciprocal and regular communication with advisors and teachers to collaboratively meet students’ needs

  • Observing students in classes in order to further evaluate their learning needs and identify learning successes

  • Regularly attending AGC department meetings and full faculty meetings

  • Supervising and supporting students during evening study hall

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, counseling, or similar field.  A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates will possess highly effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive and nurturing relationships. Successful candidates will also possess an ongoing commitment to creating and supporting an inclusive, equitable, and accessible educational environment as well as a willingness to examine and challenge their own educational practices through an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework.
