    College Counselor 

    Hebron Academy is seeking a dynamic, flexible, and forward-thinking faculty member to join our College Counseling department for the 2019-2020 school year.

    We are looking for a College Counselor who will:
    • Fully support a small but diverse cohort of graduating seniors and postgraduates throughout their college search and application processes.
    • Communicate regularly with their cohort's parents, advisors, and teachers.
    • Provide college preparatory instruction to all students beginning in their freshman year, in partnership with the Director of College Counseling. Topics of instruction include types of colleges, the college search, financial aid and merit scholarships, essay writing, standardized testing, summer programs, athletic recruiting, and more.
    • Educate families about all aspects of planning and managing a college and career search process, in partnership with the Director of College Counseling.
    • Assist in planning college counseling events, including college visits days, an on-campus college fair, essay-writing workshops, and more.
    Our faculty participate fully in the life of the school. The College Counselor will therefore also teach 1 - 2 courses, serve as a student advisor, coach and/or lead non-athletic extracurricular activities, and participate in residential dormitory life.

    Experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably at an independent boarding school, is required, as is familiarity with the American college and university landscape and the college application process. At least two years of experience in college counseling is preferred. The ideal applicant will also be proficient in using the Microsoft suite, Google applications, and Naviance; have strong written and oral communication skills, and have proven success working collaboratively in a fast-paced and innovative educational environment.

    Job Goal: Deliver active, engaging, fun, and safe English language immersion classes and experiences.
    • Teach daily – focus on speaking, listening, games, activities, 2 x 80 min. sessions daily
    Lead and participate in recreational activities (both on and off campus)
    Drive school vehicles for field trips
    Handle cash and receipts
    Meet with director and faculty to supply feedback and suggestions about the program
    Contribute ideas for activities and lessons, and help to prepare both

    Full-time

    Located on the beautiful campus of Hebron Academy, an independent college preparatory boarding and day school for boys and girls in grades six through postgraduate, the Hebron Academy Early Learning Center (HAELC) is looking to hire an experienced early childhood educator to serve as Program Director/Lead Daycare Provider. Located in southwestern Maine, the Hebron Academy campus is just 50 minutes from Portland and other coastal towns, just 60 minutes from the White Mountains, and within a short drive to numerous lakes and ski areas.

    Serving children ages 3 months to 3 years, HAELC provides exceptional childcare, prioritizing the development of a nurturing environment where caregivers provide stimulating, individualized, and developmentally informed learning opportunities to facilitate each child’s growth and development. Taking advantage of the extensive natural spaces available outdoors within the greater Hebron Academy campus, HAELC also places significant value in engaging children outside in nature. This position combines hands-on childcare responsibilities and curriculum development, in addition to administrative responsibilities, including, but not limited to, the following: routine written and verbal communication with parents; daycare staff scheduling, oversight, and professional support; ongoing communication with state licensing agencies to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations; and collaboration with Hebron Academy Administrative Team members.

    Head Girls' Varsity Soccer Coach

    Hebron Academy is seeking a head girls' varsity soccer coach for the 2019-2020 season. The varsity team competes in the MAISAD league and as a member of the New England Prep School league (NEPSAC) as a Class D school. Our strong schedule includes games with the Maine prep schools as well as a number of contests against opponents in the Lakes Region League in New Hampshire.

    Focusing on individual development, tactical awareness and enjoyment of the game, Hebron's girls' varsity team has had a successful time over the past decade, including both MAISAD (Maine Prep) league championships and appearances in the NEPSAC Class D tournament.

    Qualified candidates must have extensive soccer experience as a player and/or coach. In addition to coaching, the head coach will work with the Office of Admission to actively recruit players, and with the College Counseling Office to assist players with college placement. Additionally, our faculty participate fully in the life of the school -- as a teacher, coach, dorm parent, mentor, and advisor.  Other responsibilities will be flexible based on the candidate's experience and professional goals.

    Fulltime Housekeeper
     
     
     REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings & Grounds 
    This is a full time, 40 hours per week, position. 

    JOB SUMMARY 
    Housekeeper 
    Responsible for daily and periodic cleaning of classrooms buildings, offices, dormitories, gymnasium, student union, and health center. Daily cleaning includes sterilizing and restocking bathrooms, sweeping, washing and vacuuming hallways and common areas, removing the trash, and washing chalkboards. Periodic cleaning includes stripping and waxing floors, shampooing carpets, washing blinds, walls, windows, and dusting. Other duties include cleaning out dorm rooms and preparing them for rental groups. 

    Other duties as directed by Director of Buildings and Grounds. 

    HOURS: Regular 40 hour work week, with an early morning start time (may have some flexibility). 

    QUALIFICATIONS: 
    Must be able to work well both in a team environment and independently. Must have the ability to recognize problems as they arise and bring them to the attention of the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Must be able to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment in all aspects of responsibility. 

     
     Experience as an industrial housekeeper preferred. Candidate must be able to safely lift 50 lbs, have a valid State of Maine driver’s license, ability to work independently and be able to multi-task.

Faculty Responsibilities

In a boarding environment, faculty participate fully in the life of the school--as teacher, coach, dorm parent, mentor, advisor, advocate. In addition to classes, faculty are assigned duties during the afternoons (coaching or leading activities), in the evenings, and on weekends.

Faculty are expected to:
  • Teach four academic sections, two or three ‘preps’.
  • Be available for one-on-one or group help for students.
  • Serve as an advisor to a group of students.
  • Coach or lead afternoon activities in at least two seasons.
  • Perform dormitory, weeknight, and weekend duties.
  • Residential (dormitory) faculty are on duty one or two weeknights and every third weekend.
  • Non-dormitory faculty perform weeknight duty and are part of weekend duty teams assigned to take trips or lead on-campus activities. Duty teams rotate every third weekend.
  • Meet all professional responsibilities.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development.
  • Participate fully in the life of the school whether living in a dormitory, in school housing, or off-campus.
  • Be a presence.
