The Hebron Academy Athletic Hall of Fame was established to honor former student athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters who have brought distinction to themselves and Hebron through their achievements, contributions, sportsmanship and/or leadership in athletics.

Nominate a Worthy Candidate

Nominations for 2017 may be made by letter or email to Pat Layman (Hebron Advancement Office, P.O. Box 309, Hebron, ME 04238), and are due by April 30, 2017. Please include a brief but thorough summary of the nominee's accomplishments and why you believe the nominee should be inducted into the Hebron Hall of Fame. Self nominations will not be accepted. Inductions for 2017 will take place during Reunion-Homecoming Weekend 2017.

  • Alumni who have participated in Hebron athletics and graduated at least ten years prior to the year of election
  • Coaches and athletic administrators whose careers have spanned at least ten years at Hebron
  • Faculty and supporters who have made a significant contribution to Hebron athletics for at least ten years

Hall of Fames & Olympians from Hebron

  • Bessie Fenn '07 - Inducted into the Maine Golf Hall of Fame in September 2010.
  • Truman “Cappy” W. Hollis - Basketball coach in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. Member of the Maine State Sports Hall of Fame and was honored with a Special Achievement Award in 1986.
  • Edward "Eddie" Jeremiah '26 – Ice hockey. Played for New York Americans and Boston Bruins, Coached at Dartmouth 1937-1967. Inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973.
  • Aurele Legere '39 - Ski Jumping. Member of the Maine State Sports Hall of Fame.
  • Pierre Lucien Robert Legendre – Track and Field. Won a Bronze Medal in the Pentathlon at the Olympics in Paris in 1924 and competed in the Olympics in Antwerp in 1920. His javelin from the 1920 Olympics Games is part of Hebron's collection.
  • Allison "Al" Merrill '40 – Nordic Skiing. Competed in the 1948 Olympics in Oslo. Member of the United States Ski Hall of Fame and Maine State Sports Hall of Fame.
  • William "Bill" J. Riley '41 – Ice hockey. Played at Dartmouth College. Inducted into U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.
  • Al Switzer - Coached the University of Maine swim team for 19 years.  Inducted into the University of Maine Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

  • Cindy Lebel '04 – St. Anselm College Ice Hockey, ECAC East Player of the Year and First-Team All-American, St. Anselm’s Female Athlete of the Year
  • Ari Paschal '04 – Virginia Wesleyan Basketball, Div. III National Champions
  • Katie Curtis '02 – Colby College Rowing, First Team All-American
  • Maryse Simard '01 – Elmira College Women's Ice Hockey, Div. III National Champions, 2001 and 2002. Team inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame.
