The Lumberjack Ledger

Athletics Recap Week of January 17, 2022

Alpine Ski Racing:

The Ski team had their first of the season at Kents Hill.  With very little practice on gates before, we wanted to use this time to get some great practice in, and have fun!  Overall, the team did fantastically and we had a lot of first-time racers absolutely crush it in their first race.  The team was led by Senior Arvin Ohrn who placed 1st overall and won by almost 2 seconds on the day.  Maja Mulley was the overall winner for the girls putting together two very strong runs.  The rest of the team had great performances as well.  Wolfie Egan placed 8th overall just in front of Calvin Grover who finished 9th.  Overall, it was a beautiful day to be on the mountain, and the kids are looking forward to their next race, which is going to be GS at Shawnee Peak.

JAN 19: Brewster 74 - Hebron 51

Hebron took the court against Brewster to open up 2022. With just a single practice between our matchup with Brewster and our last game on December 15th, Hebron was out of shape and out of sync, scoring just 16 points in the first half. Nizar Khairy led a comeback in the second, scoring 24 points and hitting a couple deep threes, but the Lumberjacks ran out of gas late and Brewster continued to score. Hopefully, this game serves as a tune-up for our game against New Hampton as we look to get back into our flow and continue to compete against a tough NEPSAC slate.

Lumberjacks Girls Varsity Soccer Handed Tough Homecoming Loss

The Girls Varsity Soccer team fought a tough battle against Gould during the Homecoming game on Saturday, September 30. The Lumberjacks struggled to possess the ball throughout the first half but came back in the second half firing a series of shots at Gould's net, scoring a goal and securing a penalty shot. Both Haliegh Holmes '24 and Jae Williams '26 held tight and saved shots from going into the net. It was a tough loss, but the team played well and worked hard until the final whistle blew. The final score was 5-2 in favor of the Huskies.

2022-23 Winter Athletic Awards

With winter sports officially over and all-NEPSAC, all-MAISAD, and Hebron team awards in, we want to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our Hebron student athletes. We took part in 63 interscholastic competitions spanning over the course of 4 months. We came up victorious in some of those and took our losses in others. The grit, determination, and effort demonstrated this winter is commendable, and we are proud of the work each and every one of our student athletes put into their seasons.
