Athletics Recap Week of December 13, 2021

Boys Varsity Basketball: 64 Hebron - 40 Gould

Hebron finished off their December slate by playing a Gould team that lacked two starters due to injury. However, Gould made it a competitive game in the first half. Both teams played aggressive defense that limited scoring, with the Jacks taking a 32-26 lead into the half. In the second half, Hebron’s on-ball pressure allowed us to turn defense into offense. Getting out in transition created more space for our shooters, who finally found the bottom of the net. We got out to a big lead, which culminated in big threes by Frew Rowen ‘22 and Nick Demarco ‘22, who scored their first points of the season. Hebron heads into Winter Break this weekend and won’t play another game until January 8th, our first away contest of the season vs Dexter Southfield.

Boys JV Basketball: 55 Hyde-22 Hebron

The Jacks played at Hyde on Wednesday the 15th of December. They were down by a lot at half and our goal was to win the second half. They came out and won the 3rd quarter. This was a great accomplishment! The team as a whole rebounded better during this game. Once they start making shots, they will be able to compete against teams. They are off for a few weeks for the Holidays!

With winter sports officially over and all-NEPSAC, all-MAISAD, and Hebron team awards in, we want to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our Hebron student athletes. We took part in 63 interscholastic competitions spanning over the course of 4 months. We came up victorious in some of those and took our losses in others. The grit, determination, and effort demonstrated this winter is commendable, and we are proud of the work each and every one of our student athletes put into their seasons.
