Mountain Biking

The Mountain Biking team is a competitive race team that focuses on personal fitness, technique, bike maintenance, and trail maintenance. The mountain biking team practices on Hebron’s extensive trail network that includes double track and single track trails with machine and hand-built features to provide challenges for both experienced and novice riders. The team competes against other high schools throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont with most races taking place on Wednesdays, and the final championship typically on a Saturday at the end of the season.

Students on the team learn how to properly take care of and maintain their bikes, and they also learn about and practice sustainable trail maintenance to keep our trails in good riding order. All riders are expected to provide their own mountain bike with disc brakes, a well-fitting helmet, and closed-toe shoes. Hebron has relationships with two area bike shops and students, if needed, will have the opportunity to purchase bikes and gear after arriving at school. Previous biking experience is expected, but experience mountain biking on dirt trails is not required.

Tim Bonis

Mountain Biking Coach

Coach Bonis is starting his second year of coaching the Mountain Biking team. He has been a lifelong cyclist in different forms and has been riding the Hebron trials for quite a few years now. He’s looking forward to developing the riding skills of kids at all levels and hoping for some successful race results this fall.
