My Hebron Stories

“I came to Hebron as a shy kid who was not really thriving in a large school and I was amazed at how Hebron Academy made it okay for me to love learning and to want to go to school every day. I discovered it was a place where it was cool to do your homework.  My teachers created that school culture. If I did not do my homework, my teachers were personally disappointed. They really cared--that motivated me. Moreover, with only 10-12 students per class, teachers were able to establish a special camaraderie and feeling of acceptance among classmates. Also, they made the subject matter exciting! Honestly, there were times when I did not even realize that I was learning things, but I was.

I also credit my coaches with the growth and confidence I developed at Hebron. Even though I was never the best athlete on the field, my coaches treated me and coached me the way they did everyone else, with respect and belief in my abilities and contributions to our team. Lastly, the community aspect of Hebron was so important. We all spent a lot of time together in classes, at meals, and traveling. And, we always knew that we had to represent Hebron with class no matter where we were. It was just the culture of the Hebron community. My Hebron experience made me who I am today.”
