Melvin '16 and Soaring Eagles Ready for Frozen Four

By: Lumberjack Athletics
The Elmira College women's ice hockey team has a 24-2-2 record on the season as they head to Vermont this upcoming weekend for the NCAA Frozen Four. Kiana Melvin '16 helps lead a solid defensive unit who has posted eight straight wins and has not lost in their last 15 contests with a 13-0-2 record over that stretch.

On the season, Melvin has played in 26 of Elmira's 28 games while recording three goals and seven assists. In her two year career for the purple and gold, she has four goals and 15 assists. Elmira defeated Adrian College 2-0 to advance to the Frozen Four. In that contest, Melvin recorded four blocked shots against the fourth-highest scoring team in the country.

The national semifinal will be played at Norwich University in Northfield, VT against a familiar foe in Plattsburgh State. The Soaring Eagles defeated the Cardinals 4-2 early this season, but Plattsburgh reponded to win 3-0 in their most recent battle. Friday's opening face-off is scheduled for 3:30pm.
