Empower students of all abilities to become academically independent and accountable. The Academic Guidance Center (AGC) is principled on developing academic strategies, greater academic confidence and self-awareness.
The AGC is designed to support students with minor learning differences, possible academic gaps or insufficient study habits. In keeping with the Academy’s core values of community and trust, the AGC embraces a team approach to academic coaching, wherein each student receives support from a team of qualified faculty who in turn communicate with the teachers, administrators, and parents of the participant. AGC faculty are trained to address a broad scope of academic needs. Through collaboration with the AGC, students become aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and develop appropriate strategies that place them in control of their academic growth and success.
The Team Approach
Academic Guidance is scheduled as a class period in the school day and meets regularly. Students work with a team of dedicated AGC faculty. Together, the team offers direction and support during each session. As a result of the consistent scheduling, students are able to overcome and learn from challenges as they arise, practice new strategies and hone their time management and organizational skills. Partnering with multiple AGC faculty encourages students to develop working relationships with a variety of teaching styles. Simultaneously, the AGC works closely with each student’s teachers to identify areas of concern. The Director of the Academic Guidance department oversees all communication.
