Hebron Academy's Katherine Ducharme '21 of Marblehead Massachusetts was honored with a $500 scholarship from Maryland based School Connections, a leader in fostering Independent Boarding School and Educational Consultant relationships. Designed to support students with extras expenses, the Scholarship helps cover books, transportation, school trips, and other school-related items.
The scholarship committee, headed by School Connections, Founder and CEO Patrick Finn recognized 3 students from a national pool of independent school student essay submissions. Students were asked to write about the impact of their boarding school experiences and also asked to commit to the concept of “paying it forward” with an opportunity of their devising within the next 10 years.
Finn, a former Director of Admission of 31 years says, “As with the independent school admission selection, choosing the recipients for the scholarship was both exciting and arduous.” Katherine’s involvement in an array of school-related activities and her thesis statement regarding giving your best stood out. She wrote, “Regardless of if you are asked to do something or if it’s of your own choosing, it is extremely important to always try your best and be proud of the work you display.”
