Daniel J. Marchetti from the Grammar School to Succeed John King
Hebron, ME – Daniel J. Marchetti has been appointed as Hebron Academy’s next Head of School, commencing July 1, 2016. The Board’s unanimous decision followed an enthusiastic recommendation by the Search Committee.
Marchetti will join the Hebron community from his current position at The Grammar School (TGS) in Putney, Vermont, where he serves as Head of School. Prior to TGS, Marchetti was a teacher, coach, dorm parent, admissions officer, dean of students and ultimately Assistant Headmaster at The Hillside School in Massachusetts. While there, in addition to his other duties, he led the Strategic Planning Task Force and was a member of the Trustee Audit Committee.
In addition to his broad teaching and administrative experience in independent schools, Dan has long been involved in leadership training as an instructor at both Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School.
Dan grew up in, and graduated from, the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT, where his parents were faculty members. He attended St. Lawrence University for his bachelor’s and then the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, where he earned a masters in educational administration.
Dan’s appointment represents the culmination of a comprehensive national search over the last six months, guided by search consultants Bob Hallett and Ted Lingenheld of School Strategies & Solutions.
“This is a most exciting time for Hebron. We enthusiastically welcome Dan and his family to our extraordinary community. He brings great experience and a fresh perspective to our campus and we look forward to the exciting future ahead,” said Paul Goodof, Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Head of School John King will continue to lead Hebron until June 30, 2016. Mr. King and the Board of Trustees, as well as a Transition Committee comprised of Trustees and members of the faculty and staff, will work closely with Mr. Marchetti in the coming months to assure a seamless leadership transition.
