On Friday evening, Hebron's girls' basketball team earned a 44-39 victory when they traveled to Eliot, ME to take on the Seacoast Christian Guardians. With 6:47 remaining in the second quarter, Hebron's Franceska Halloran '19 drained a free throw for the 1,000th point of her career. Halloran became the first Lumberjack to achieve this feat en route to a season-high 24 points on the evening.

Early in the contest, the Guardians showed they wanted to avenge an early season loss to the green and white as they took a 14-9 lead into the second quarter. Halloran's two free throws gave Hebron a 16-14 advantage, and while the home team would tie it at 20 apiece, the Lumberjacks never trailed again.

The rest of the second quarter continued to be dominated by the Lumberjacks on offense, but Seacoast kept their fast-paced attack going and the score at the half was 26-24. Many of Seacoast's baskets came in transition and they created a lot of second-chance points with offensive rebounds throughout the night.

In the second half, Hebron continued to score at important moments, and Halloran recorded 10 of her 24 points after halftime. In her career, Halloran finished with an 8-0 record against the Guardians scoring 133 points over those eight contests. Breaking down her career so far, Halloran finished her freshman season with 235 points before breaking the 300-point barrier in each of the next two campaigns. She entered the 2018-19 season with 864 points to her name.

In the fourth, Hebron held a 42-37 lead with 38 seconds remaining. The hosts scored to cut the lead to three, but Allyson Walsh '19 made two clutch free throws with less than two seconds on the clock to seal the win. Walsh finished the game with 11 points as she now has double-digit points in her last four contests. Reily New '19 and Katherine Ducharme '21 each added four points for the Lumberjacks while Emily McCarthy '20 rounded on the scoring for the visitors with one made free throw.

Hebron now holds an 8-1 record in Maine Principals' Association action this winter with five games remaining in their regular season schedule. Hebron will return to action on Tuesday, January 22nd when they travel to Buckfield. The Lumberjacks beat the Bucks by five in their first contest of the season this past Monday. Tuesday's opening tip-off is scheduled for 4:30.
