Message from the Dean of Academics

Welcome to Hebron! I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and let you know how much I look forward to working with you and your family over the summer.

My name is Christine Hemmings and I am the Dean of Academics, 9th-grade advisor, and Spanish teacher.

One way that you can help to support the class scheduling process and ensure we have the best fit schedule in place for the start of school is by making sure Hebron Academy has an official (translated if necessary) copy of all your year-end transcripts.  This information enables us to not only make better decisions regarding your course selection, but it also is essential for upper school students in supporting the college counseling process.

If you are joining the Upper School (grades 9-PG), once we have all of your current transcripts, the Dean of Academics will suggest a class schedule and provide a list of elective classes to choose from.  Your input to the class schedule is important so we can make sure that you are happy with the classes you’re taking in the fall and feel well prepared to meet your academic goals at Hebron and beyond.

If you are joining the Middle School (grades 6-8) many of your classes will be established based on your grade level with variations based on proficiency in math and language (if applicable).

Other helpful things to know:

  • New international students take an English placement test to determine appropriate class placement before classes begin.
  • The school schedule is created mid-summer and then communicated to students in August through the myHebron online portal (which you will gain access to in June).
  • myHebron is a central resource for class schedules,  messages, textbook ordering  AP class summer work, and more.

I  look forward to working with you this summer and cannot wait to see you in class!
