Greetings from HAMS - October 23, 2020

We have completed week seven of the fall trimester!

Students’ fall midterm grade reports on now available on myHebron. If you have any trouble accessing those, please let us know. Also, if you were unable to schedule a meeting with any teachers during last Friday’s conferences, please feel free to email those individual teachers and they will be happy to set up a time to meet.

Week of 10/26 - 10/30:

This will be a full week of in-person classes. Soccer will continue at the normal practice times as the weather allows.

Halloween Party
The 8th graders (with the help of all HAMS students) have planned a Halloween party for the younger children on campus. This will take place on Friday, 10/30, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm in the Bowl. Students will set up from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, then the party will run from 4 - 4:45 pm with a 15 minute clean up until 5:00 pm. Students maybe dress in costumes for the entire school day or change for the party. HAMS students are encouraged to participate, but it is not required.

There are a few items that we would ask parents to help reinforce at home:

  1. Cell phones: HAMS students are allowed to have cell phones at school, but we ask that they don’t have them out in the academic buildings and use them only during breaks outside to communicate with home.
  2. Bring a reading book for study hall: All students should bring a book to read in study hall in case they complete all of their homework.
  3. Physical distancing: We realize that this is difficult for all of us, especially our students, but it is critical that students continue to be aware of their surroundings and keep 6 feet between themselves and others at all times.

HAMS Fall Term Class Schedule

A few reminders about drop-off procedures:

Students should be dropped off (during the health screening time) and picked up in the parking area in front of the school building (the building with the clock tower). Please don’t drive into the area in front of the Chapel as this area is not designed to handle through traffic.
  • After students are dropped off, they need to come to the side entrance of the lower level of Treat Science building by the white chapel.
  • They will wait outside while they are called in by school staff to have their temperature checked.
  • If their temperature is below 100.4 degrees, they can proceed to their first-period class.
  • If their temperature is above 100.4 degrees, they will need to go back home with their ride where they can attend classes remotely, if they are able.
    • Because of this, we ask that parents and those who are dropping students off wait in the athletic center parking lot in case their child has a fever. The pick-up and drop off area is small and thus we ask that drivers don’t wait there. Students should be able to let their rides know if they have a fever fairly soon after they are dropped off.

Also, if you know your child will be absent from school, please email attendance@hebronacademy.org to let us know. Alternatively, you can call the AOD (administrator on duty) at 207-966-5333.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with me at pbrouwer@hebronacademy.org.

Thanks,

Paul
