Middle School Winter Sports and Activities

Middle School Winter Sports and Activities

We have three weeks left in the 2021 winter season. We will continue the following activities until the end of the winter term on Friday, March 12th.

Basketball/personal fitness. This activity will continue after school on Mondays (3:15 - 4:30pm), Wednesdays (12:30 - 2pm) and Fridays (12:30 - 2pm). Students will need clean sneakers and workout clothes.

Alpine Skiing. We will continue to offer a recreational/race skiing program at Lost Valley on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing Hebron around 3:30pm, and skiing at Lost Valley from roughly 3:45 - 5:15pm.  The expected return time to Hebron would be around 6pm or students may be picked up at Lost Valley any time after 5:30pm. On Wednesdays and Fridays, students who have a Sunday River pass may travel to Sunday River with the upper school snow sports teams leaving at 12:45pm and returning by 5:30pm. Those without Sunday River passes will have the option of cross country skiing or snowshoeing on the school’s trails or perhaps working out in the gym on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 - 2pm. Hebron students will not be able to enter the lodges so they will need to get “booted up” in the bus. Lost Valley and Sunday River have portapotties outside of the lodges. Participants interested in race training will have the option to train and run gates with the Upper School ski team at Lost Valley. There will be a fee for the ski program to help cover the cost of Lost Valley lift tickets. Students with Lost Valley season passes will not be charged a fee. Students can drop off their ski gear (skis and poles) before school in the ski racks outside the athletic center at the end of the large parking lot.

Hockey. Middle school students interested in hockey can skate and practice with the upper school team. Practices will be after school, typically from 3:30 - 5pm each day.

Drama. The middle school students have the opportunity to be part of The HAMS Players - our drama group. The plan is to produce a story done as a podcast, like an old fashioned radio show with exaggerated characters, an exciting story, and sound effects. The selected play and the date of the performance release will be announced once they have been decided. We will meet Mondays 3:00-4:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays 12:30-2:00 p.m. starting February 1st and continuing until the March break. After the March break, we may be meeting for a couple of weeks to finalize our production. Students may participate in a sports activity and drama. I do ask that HAMS players attend at least 2 practices a week. For more information about HAMS Drama please click HAMS drama 2020-2021
