Thanksgiving Travel Form (now available to students)

Thanksgiving Travel Form (now available to students)

Boarding students have received via email and must complete the Thanksgiving Travel Form by October 28th to inform us of their intended travel plans for the Thanksgiving Holiday. This form collects information regarding their destination, host, and method of transportation. If they are flying, they will need to upload an electronic copy of their booking confirmation. Students need to complete this form, even if you have already registered them to stay at school as part of the Thanksgiving Layover program.

If the information provided on the form conforms to school expectations regarding break travel, we will email parent/guardian(s) to confirm and approve the provided plans. Similarly, we will follow up if there are concerns or conflicts between expectations and the plans submitted.

We will observe a similar process for Winter Break, with the Winter Break Travel Form being published in early November.

Here's some important information as you support your student through this process:

Travel Policy Reminders

It is the Academy’s expectation that students will depart for long weekends, Thanksgiving, winter break, and spring break only after their last school commitment. Travel arrangements should not interfere with the class day. Missed classes will be considered unexcused.

The school will provide transportation to and from Portland Jetport and Boston Logan Airport at the beginning and end of vacations at the most common travel times (details on subsequent page). Students will be charged for transportation that falls outside of those common travel times.

If a student’s needs do not coincide with the departure and arrival times provided, the school can help arrange taxi transportation to and from the airport. To make special arrangements for transportation, please email (travel@hebronacademy.org) the Transportation Coordinator well in advance.

Important Policy Reminders

Failure to comply with the following rules may result in serious disciplinary consequences:

  • During breaks, students must be under the care and supervision of a responsible adult (parent/guardian or approved host).
  • During breaks, students are expected to uphold the school's behavioral standards as well as local/state/federal laws.
  • Hebron Academy policy, as well as Maine State Law, regarding the availability of alcohol and other illegal substances must be upheld.
  • Students are not permitted to stay in hotels, motels, AirBnB (or equivalent), or private residences without adult supervision.
  • Students are not permitted to stay in college dormitories.
  • Students are not permitted to be transported by fellow students or minors.
  • Students are not permitted to use ride-share services such as Uber or Lyft
  • Missing classes for holiday travel is considered unexcused unless caused by unforeseeable delays/changes in flights or other external factors. Missing classes for any reason requires the completion of a Planned Absence Form through the Dean of Students' office.
