Favorite Maine Adventures

We asked our students to share their favorite Maine adventures and places to visit. Here are their top picks!

These destinations are just some of the weekend trips that students can choose from. Hebron also offers special adventure days like Maine Day or Mountain Day.

#1 Surfing Trips

Grab a wetsuit and get ready to hang ten!

Surfing might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Maine's chilly ocean, but there is a vibrant surf community here!

#2 Frenchman's Hole

Will you take the plunge?

There are many "secret" swimming spots in Maine; we are lucky to have some of the most beautiful spots close to campus. One of the most popular is Frenchman's Hole: a deep, clear pool below a ten-foot waterfall.

#3 Local Fairs

Enjoy the midway!

Agricultural fairs are a fall tradition in Maine. The Fryeburg Fair, the largest in the state, is always a popular stop. A trip to the fair wouldn't be complete without amusement rides and delicious food!

#4 Hiking & Camping

Climb new peaks!

Hebron is centrally located near many mountains, including peaks in the White Mountain National Forest of Western Maine and New Hampshire. We are also fortunate to have a mountain on campus- Singepole!

#5 Fun on Campus

Campus is a great place to be!

Our Community Life Team makes sure that there are activities happening on campus every weekend, with something for everyone. Movie nights, lawn games, coffee houses, intramural athletics, bridge dance parties, and much more!

#6 Sunday River Ski Resort

Let's hit the slopes!

Sunday River offers 870 skiable acres, 135 trails and glades, 18 lifts, and 2,340 vertical feet. Weekend trips to the mountain are for skiers of all levels, from seasoned veterans to first-timers.

#7 Acadia National Park

Let's explore!

Acadia National Park is a 47,000-acre Atlantic coast recreation area primarily on Mount Desert Island. Its landscape is marked by woodland, rocky beaches, and glacier-scoured granite peaks.

#8 Morse Mountain

Mountain or Beach?

A trip to Morse Mountain offers the best of both worlds with a hike that leads directly to sandy, remote Seawall Beach.

#9 Swan Island

Find inner peace in the great outdoors.

Swan Island, at the head of Merrymeeting Bay, welcomes hikers, campers, birders, wildlife watchers, and explorers to its shores for an unforgettable Maine experience.

#10 Maine Wildlife Park

Discover the amazing animals of Maine.

The Maine Wildlife Park is home to over 30 species of Maine wildlife to observe and photograph in their natural habitats. Moose, black bears, beavers, lynx, and coyotes are just some of the animals you will see.
